There has been an increase in anti-militancy operations in the Valley since April.
Three unidentified militants were on Sunday killed in an encounter with security forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.
“Five terrorists have been eliminated in operation Reban in Shopian,” defence spokesperson Col Rajesh Kalia said.
A CRPF spokesperson, earlier in the day, said that the encounter broke out around 8 am in Reban area. According to sources, they received inputs that a group of five militants were in the area.
He said a gunfight broke out after the militants opened fire at a search party of the forces.
