Five suspects, 11 grams of heroin seized in Naharlagun

The Naharlagun Police have apprehended five alleged drug peddlers, including a woman, recovering 11 grams of suspected heroin from their possession, Superintendent of Police Mihin Gambo announced. Acting on a tip-off about a youth in possession of contraband drugs in Naharlagun’s A-Sector area, SP Gambo constituted a team comprising SDPO Paul Jerang, Inspector Krishnendu Dev, and others to conduct a raid. The police team, along with EAC Khoda Bath and under SP supervision, swiftly moved to the location, apprehending Md Mijanur Rahman alias Zakir (22) from No. 2 Dharmapur village under Laluk PS in Assam, along with Md Moinul Haque (23) from Balijaan village under Bihpuria PS.

During a personal search, 3 vials of suspected drugs weighing 3.5 grams were found on Mijanur. A subsequent search at Moinul’s meat shop in A-Sector led to the recovery of 51 empty vials. The five peddlers were arrested under the NDPS Act on Sunday. Interrogation revealed that the drugs were purchased from a woman in Naharlagun. The police team, led by Inspector Dev and EAC Bath, found a woman selling heroin with a 2-year-old baby at the location. Lady Head Constable S. Dirchi identified the woman as Saira Begum (23) from Gohaidoloni village, Bihpuria. Using the baby to avoid suspicion, Saira was found with 6 vials of suspected drugs weighing 7.5 grams. Her male accomplice, Asadul Islam (20) from Nowboicha, Lakhimpur, was also apprehended.

Further interrogation revealed the main supplier, Nurul Haque (25) from Sonapur, Bangalmara, who operates a Bolero pickup in the Itanagar Capital Region. Utilizing technical and human intelligence, the police team apprehended Nurul Haque at the Pachin river bank, seizing 11 grams of suspected heroin and 51 empty vials.
