Former cricketer Angshuman Gaikwad passed away, a long battle with cancer is over

A superstar has fallen from Indian cricket. Former cricketer Anshuman Gaekwad passed away. He was 71 years old. He was suffering from cancer for a long time. The Indian board stood by for his treatment. But the last defense did not happen. This famous cricketer and former coach of the Indian team passed away after suffering from illness on Wednesday night. He went to London for treatment. He returned to his hometown, Baroda. It was there that night that his life was extinguished.

Gaekwad’s side at the end were his former teammates. Everyone from Kapil Dev to Dilip Vengsarkar was by his side. Even when he went to London for treatment, his hands were empty. Kapil requested the Indian board officials to stand by Anshuman. Similarly, the board also helped him with one crore rupees.

He played 40 Tests in a career of 22 years. Debut in 1974 against the West Indies at Eden Gardens. Scored 40 Test runs in 1985. There were two centuries and 10 half centuries. Highest run 201 in Chennai. He scored 269 runs in a total of 15 ODI matches. Scored 12136 runs in first class cricket, 34 centuries. He used to open tests with Sunil Gavaskar.

Anshuman Gaikwad was one of the few stylish former Indian cricketers. He retired from the game and regularly wrote columns in Bengali daily. He was a caste cricketer. Even in the match in which Anil Kumble took 10 wickets against Pakistan, Angshuman was the coach of the national team.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the death of this famous former cricketer. He tweeted that night, “Anshuman Gaikwad will be remembered by the countrymen for his lifelong contribution to cricket. He was a God-given cricketer as well as a renowned coach. Condolences to his family at this time. I have deep respect for him.” Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly wrote in the night, “Terrible news; rest in peace, Anshu Bhai.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the X handle.
