Five-time former Punjab chief minister and Akali Dal patriarch Parkash Singh Badal died on Tuesday at a private hospital in Mohali. He was 95 years old.
“S.Prakash Singh Badal succumbed to his illness despite proper medical management. Fortis Hospital Mohali deeply mourns the death of S.Prakash Singh Badal,” a statement from the hospital said.
Hospital director Abhijit Singh told the news agency PTI that the Punjab leader died around 8 pm..
The former chief minister was admitted to Fortis Hospital in Mohali a week ago after complaining of discomfort while breathing.
