Tripura’s Government Railway Police (GRP) have successfully dismantled a major narcotics trafficking network, arresting four individuals and seizing a large cache of contraband during two separate raids at Agartala Railway Station. The operation led to the recovery of 4.15 kg of cannabis and 200 bottles of banned cough syrup, with an estimated street value exceeding Rs 128,000. GRP Station Officer-in-Charge Tapas Das confirmed the arrests, stating, “We have registered cases against all four accused and forwarded them to court for judicial custody.”
The first raid targeted three suspects—Puja Devi, Reshmi Kumari, and Palvesh Kumar Singh—who are believed to be habitual offenders involved in smuggling cannabis from Tripura to Bihar. Authorities seized 4.15 kg of ganja, valued at around Rs 48,000. In a separate operation, GRP officers arrested Sani Kumar, intercepting 200 bottles of Eskuf cough syrup, a banned substance, worth approximately Rs 80,000.
Law enforcement officials have highlighted the growing involvement of Bihar-based individuals in narcotics smuggling operations, indicating the presence of an organized drug trafficking network. Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to disrupt illegal drug distribution channels in the region.
