Four Dead After Speeding Stone-Laden Truck Overturns in Tripura

A stone-laden truck overturned nearly one kilometre before the CRPF camp in Dhalai district on Sunday, killing four persons on the spot and seriously injuring four others. The deceased have been identified as Rabindrajoy Tripura, aged 48, and Mujida Tripura, aged 58, both residents of Naiharam Roaja Para.  The other two deceased are Bakhak Joy Tripura, aged 40, and Narojoy Tripura, aged 27, residents of Rajmoni Roaja Para in Gobindabari. According to reports, the truck was travelling from Chawmanu to the Biju Border out Post carrying stone chips for ongoing infrastructure work near the international border.

Sources said the accident occurred when the vehicle attempted to climb a steep stretch of road that was reportedly in a deplorable condition. Soon after the incident, local residents and the administration launched rescue operations and shifted the injured to nearby hospitals.The critically injured persons were referred to Dhalai District Hospital for advanced treatment. According to reports, most of the injured were travelling inside the truck cabin at the time of the accident.Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
