FS Kwatra has gone to Nepal on the invitation of his Nepalese

Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra arrived in Nepal on Monday for a two-day official visit, during which he will hold talks with the country’s top political leadership on the entire gamut of multifaceted cooperation between the two countries. FS Kwatra has gone to Nepal on the invitation of his Nepalese counterpart Bharat Raj Paudyal.

The visit is part of India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy, which seeks to build cordial and synergistic relations with South Asian neighbours in various fields such as economy, science & technology, research and education. Nepal relies heavily on India for transportation of goods and services, and India never steps back in offering a helping hand to its neighbour.

The Indian Foreign Secretary concluded his first round of meeting with Nepal’s Foreign Secretary, reviewing the wide ranging India-Nepal partnership. The two sides agreed to further strengthen their economic and development cooperation, and FS Kwatra will discuss various matters of bilateral cooperation such as connectivity, power trade, agriculture, health and culture. He will also meet with top political leaders, including Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN-UML President K.P. Sharma Oli.
