Fugaku 2 Aims to Advance Artificial Intelligence and Climate Studies

Japan has unveiled plans for its next-generation supercomputer, Fugaku 2, expected to become the fastest in the world. Developed by RIKEN and Fujitsu, the machine will be used for artificial intelligence research, medical advancements, and climate simulations.

Fugaku 2 will surpass its predecessor, Fugaku, which was ranked the world’s fastest supercomputer in 2020. It will have enhanced computational power, capable of performing quintillions of calculations per second. Researchers hope to leverage its capabilities to analyze massive data sets, simulate weather patterns, and accelerate the development of new drugs.

The Japanese government has allocated significant funding to ensure the project’s success. Experts believe the supercomputer will contribute to global advancements in scientific research and reinforce Japan’s leadership in technological innovation.
