Under G20 Presidency of India, the Research and Innovation Initiative Gathering (RIIG) on ‘Eco-Innovation for Energy Transition’ was organized in Dharamshala (Himachal Pradesh). Earlier the RIIG Conference on Sustainable Energy and Circular Bioeconomy was held in Ranchi and Dibrugarh.
The two-day conference was attended by representatives of G20 member states, international organizations and invited experts from the scientific community. A total of four sessions were held on the first day. The meeting was presided over by Srivari Chandrasekhar, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology of the Centre. On this occasion, DP Srivastava, representative of Vivekananda International Foundation, gave his speech on energy transition in India. This was followed by a statement on the G20 Education Working Group by Professor Raghunathan Rangaswamy, Dean of International Relations, IIT Madras.
During the meeting discussions were held on developing environment friendly energy conservation systems. Areas focused during the conference include challenges and opportunities in research and innovation collaboration between member countries on topics such as smart energy transition, storage and management.
