Godrej Agrovet Limited (GAVL) has inaugurated its first Samadhan Center for oil palm farmers at Nalkata in Dhalai district, aiming to boost productivity and ensure sustainable growth in the state’s emerging oil palm sector. The one-stop solution (OSS) center will provide farmers with knowledge, tools, services, and expert guidance from seed to harvesting.
Tripura, which has a potential oil palm cultivation area of 1.46 lakh hectares, targets 11,500 hectares under cultivation by 2026-27. The Samadhan Center is expected to play a pivotal role for farmers in Unakoti and Dhalai, offering soil-testing based fertilizer advice, irrigation solutions for dry months, and access to government subsidies and finance. Sougata Niyogi, CEO of GAVL’s Oil Palm Business, said, “The launch of Samadhan marks a significant step towards nurturing the long-term sustainable development of the oil palm industry in the region. These centers will empower farmers with contemporary technologies and expert advice to achieve sustained productivity.”
In Agartala, traders and agricultural stakeholders have welcomed the move, expecting improved farmer incomes to boost demand for agri-inputs, tools, and allied services. Experts believe steady palm oil production will also strengthen the region’s agri-economy and create ancillary business opportunities. Each Samadhan center is projected to support the planting of around 2,000 hectares of oil palm, reinforcing GAVL’s commitment to empowering farmers and expanding palm cultivation in the Northeast.
