Godrej Agrovet Limited has unveiled Godrej Pride Hog, an innovative range of pig feed scientifically formulated to provide optimal nutrition at every stage of a pig’s lifecycle. This new product line includes three variants: Starter, Grower, and Finisher, each designed to promote better health, immunity, and growth for pigs.
The launch event featured a roundtable discussion in Guwahati, focusing on preventive measures against African Swine Fever (ASF) and best practices for pig farm management. Notable industry experts, including Dr. Purnananda Konwar from the Assam Livestock and Poultry Corporation Ltd and Capt. (Dr.) A.Y. Rajendra, CEO of Godrej Agrovet’s Animal Feed Business, participated in the discussion.
Balram Singh Yadav, Managing Director of Godrej Agrovet, emphasized the significance of pig farming in the North East, which hosts about half of India’s approximately 9-million pig population. He stated that Pride Hog offers a high-quality, research-backed nutritional solution that aims to enhance pig health and maximize growth potential, ultimately improving farmer profitability.
Since its detection in 2020, ASF has posed severe challenges to pig farmers in the region, leading to high mortality rates and economic losses. The roundtable underscored the urgent need for effective preventive measures, including strict biosecurity protocols, controlled pig movement, and high-quality feed to bolster immunity against the disease.
Capt. (Dr.) A.Y. Rajendra highlighted that Pride Hog is designed to meet the unique nutritional needs of pigs at various growth stages, helping prevent issues like piglet mortality and diarrhea while ensuring faster growth and overall health. The feed’s offerings include: (1) Pride Hog Starter: For piglets aged 2 weeks to 2 months (20g–1kg/day), (2) Pride Hog Grower: For pigs aged 2 to 4 months (1.2–2.6kg/day), (3) Pride Hog Finisher: For pigs aged 4 months to trading (2.8–3.5kg/day). The launch of Pride Hog represents Godrej Agrovet’s commitment to empowering farmers with sustainable, science-driven solutions that enhance livestock health and productivity, addressing the critical challenges posed by ASF while supporting the livelihoods of farmers in the region.
