Golden Globe Awards: RRR Wins Best Original Song

RRR came, saw and won the Golden Globes. SS Rajamouli’s blockbuster Natu Natu won Best Original Song, one of the two categories in which it was nominated. It was left out of the Best Non-English Language Film category, which Argentina won in 1985. Other nominees in the category include All Quiet on the Western Front (Germany), Decision to Live, (South Korea), and Close (Belgium),.
RRR is represented at the Golden Globe Awards by its director and stars – Ram Charan and SS Rajamouli, Jr. NTR, who is accompanied by his wife Upasana Kamineni. Junior NTR and Ram Charan play the role of freedom fighters Komaram Bheem and Alluri Seethamaraju in the period drama set in 1920s British-occupied India. The cast includes Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgan as well as British actors Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody and Olivia Morris.

RRR, which has grossed over ₹ 1,200 crores worldwide, has already won multiple international honors, including Best Director for Rajamouli at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards. RRR has submitted for consideration in various Oscar categories on its own and they are expected to be nominated in at least one category, if not more.

The Golden Globes was organized in Los Angeles with comedian Jerrod Carmichael as host. The awards returned to mainstream Hollywood after undergoing internal reforms following criticism of alleged racist and sexist voting practices. Last year’s Golden Globes were boycotted by NBC, which broadcasts the show, and many of Hollywood’s biggest stars, led by Tom Cruise, who returned all three of his Globes.
