Governor Calls Assembly a Temple of Democracy

Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu described the Tripura Legislative Assembly as a “temple of democracy,” saying it provides a platform for the voices of the people to be heard. He stressed that the true strength of democracy lies in upholding dignity, democratic values, and responsible conduct.

The Governor was addressing a special discussion programme organised in Agartala to mark the 63rd Foundation Day of the Tripura Legislative Assembly on Wednesday.

The programme, themed “Rich Heritage, Strong Commitment, Bright Future,” commemorated the Assembly’s contribution to the state’s democratic and constitutional journey.

During the programme, dignitaries highlighted the Legislative Assembly’s vital role as one of the key institutions of democracy and reflected on its historic contribution to Tripura’s political and constitutional development. They also recalled several important milestones in the state’s democratic journey.

A blood donation camp and a tree plantation drive were inaugurated as part of the celebrations. Padma Shri awardee Naresh Chandra Debbarma and former Speakers of the Tripura Legislative Assembly were felicitated on the occasion.

The programme was attended Parliamentary Affairs Minister R. L. Nath, Assembly Speaker Rampada Jamatia, Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chaudhary, Assembly Secretary A. K. Nath, Padma Shri awardee Naresh Chandra Debbarma, along with several ministers, MLAs, and other distinguished guests.
