Governor of Arunachal Pays Tribute to 17 Mountain Division’s Illustrious Legacy

According to Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen K T Parnaik (Retd), the Indian Army’s 17 Mountain Division is the defender of the Siliguri Corridor and the Northeast. In order to handle emerging security issues, he pushed its commanders and soldiers to embrace innovation and technology. During a sainik sammelan on the occasion of the Division’s 65th Raising Day at the Army Cantonment in Gangtok, the governor stressed the operational necessity of artificial intelligence, drones, modern surveillance systems, cyber capabilities, and emerging technologies, particularly in the evolving post-Operation Sindoor security environment, according to a press release.Parnaik advised the Division to expand people-centric initiatives like Operation Sadbhavana and military-civil fusion in order to protect vital territory and win hearts and minds. Additionally, he underlined the importance of perception management, adaptability, innovation, and ongoing learning. The governor praised the 17 Mountain Division for its remarkable professionalism, unwavering commitment to duty, and illustrious legacy. He also paid tribute to the division’s historic contributions, which ranged from the World Wars and the liberation of Goa to its pivotal role in the union of Sikkim with the Union of India.
