India’s HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company has been authorized by the Tripura Government to implement the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for loanee and non-loanee farmers in various districts for the Rabi, 2023 season. The scheme will be implemented in the districts for the below-mentioned crops notified under the scheme by the Government of Tripura for which the crop-specific cut-off dates are also provided.
The PMFBY scheme insures farmers against crop yield losses due to external risks like cyclones, hailstorms, and natural fires. The state government conducts Crop Cutting Experiments (CCEs) to determine the loss in yield. If yield data is low, farmers are considered to have suffered a shortfall in their yield, and claims will be payable. The scheme covers all stages of the crop cycle, including pre-sowing, harvesting, and post-harvest risks.
Farmers can obtain insurance for crops in Dhalai, Gomati, Khowai, North Tripura, South Tripura, West Tripura, Unakoti, and Sepahijalacan by reaching out to banks, Common Service Centres, or authorized HDFC ERGO agents. The validity period details can be found on the Department of Agriculture’s website.
