Healthcare Focus as Knowledge Health Conclave Starts in Mizoram

Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma inaugurated the two-day Knowledge Exchange Health Conclave at Falkland Park, Aizawl, organized under the Mizoram Health Systems Strengthening Project (MHSSP). He emphasized the government’s commitment to public health as crucial for the state’s development, highlighting the Mizoram Universal Health Care Scheme (MUHCS), which offers cashless treatment at empanelled hospitals. The Chief Minister noted significant upgrades to health infrastructure, including district hospitals and health centers, supported by the World Bank and Central Government. He expressed optimism that the conclave would foster collaboration among health experts across India to enhance strategies in healthcare.

Health Minister Lalrinpuii elaborated on the improvements made through MHSSP since its 2021 launch, focusing on new equipment and quality certifications for health institutions. Project Director Dr. Lily Chhakchhuak provided insight into the project’s progress, mentioning its total cost of Rs. 280 crores, with substantial targets already met ahead of its scheduled conclusion in March 2026. Significant initiatives include the launch of MUHCS in March 2025, achieving an enrolment target of 91 percent, which led to Mizoram winning the “Best Performance in Achieving Card Saturation” award. The conclave features health experts from several states, including Telangana and Tamil Nadu, enhancing knowledge exchange in the sector.
