20,000+ Indians are presently in Ukraine out of which 18,000 are students. Ukraine to India flights have become costlier and are only available after 20th February.
The latest updates are as following:-
- According to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, 24% of overseas students in Ukraine are from India.
- Around 25 students from Indore, Madhya Pradesh are stuck in Ukraine. The MP of Indore’s Lok Sabha Shankar Lalwani said, “He has written a letter to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.”
- Around 1,000 students from Rajasthan are in Ukraine out of which 40 students are from Kota. Bundi’s Congress leader Charmnesh Sharma said, “Many Indian students are in distresses who are studying at Zaporizhzhia State Medical University.”
- India advised the Indians in Ukraine to leave the country. The Indian embassy in Kyiv asked Indians in Ukraine to avoid all non-essential travel in Ukraine.
- It has created a panic among Indian students in Ukraine as leaving the country is not possible for them. There are no flights before 20th February and the ticket prices are really high right now.
- The embassy asking the students to not panic and book the convenient flights.
- India said that Ukrainian International Airlines, Air Arabia, Fly Dubai, Qatar Airways are operating flights and more flights including Air India are being planned.
- Ukraine is a best destination for Indian students who want to pursue their career in medical, dental and nursing field.
- Many Indian students are not wanted to come back as a ticket would cost nearly a lakh rupee.
- Under an air bubble arrangement, Ukraine International Airlines operates direct flights on the Kyiv-Delhi route. The other options are transit flights which are very costly as they would be transiting through Dubai, Sharjah, Doha, Almaty and Frankfurt. These flights are operated by Air Arabia, FlyDubai and Qatar Airways.
