Hundreds of stores are destroyed by the Arunachal market fire in Pasighat

Around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, a huge fire started at the Pasighat vegetable daily market, which is close to IGJ Higher Secondary School and the airport. All of the market’s produce and clothes sheds were destroyed by the fire. The majority of the market sheds had been reduced to ashes when the Fire Service team finally put out the fire, but considerable damage had already been done. To evaluate the extent of the fire’s damage, a standing board comprising Chairman Olak Apang, AEs from Electrical and PHED, OC from Fire, OC from PS, and the DDMO visited the scene.

The impacted business owners, who were mostly store owners selling goods including fruits, vegetables, spices, clothing, groceries, and shoes, met with the board. Eyewitnesses have led to the suspicion that an electrical short circuit may have started the incident. According to preliminary accounts, the fire destroyed 108 stores in total. In order to receive quick government relief assistance, victims have been told by inspecting officials to bring the required paperwork to the DDMO’s office, including trading licenses, bank passbooks, and Aadhar cards.
