ICC World Cup 2023 is only two and a half months away

With Bumrah, Rahul’s fitness, World Cup squad on agenda for ICC World Cup 2023, BCCI chief selector Agarkar wants to meet Dravid, Rohit in West Indies for face-to-face talks to finalize a core group of 20 players. The tournament will begin on October 5 and India will begin their campaign against Australia on October 4. BCCI chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar is visiting the West Indies to map out a roadmap for the marquee event with India head coach Rahul Dravid, captain Rohit Sharma and senior members of the team management.

Currently, the Indian team is in Trinidad to prepare for the second Test match against the West Indies. Beat them quite comfortably by an innings and 141 runs in the first Test in Dominica. The senior members of the team are also set to be part of the three-match ODI series before making way for the young side under Hardik Pandya for the five-match T20I series. Dravid and Rohit will be in touch to finalize a core group of 20 players for the World Cup. The former Indian pacer is set to join the team ahead of the ODI series starting July 27.

Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness status and whether he will be able to travel to Ireland for the three-match Twenty20 series are being discussed in detail. Another important member of the team, KL Rahul suffered a thigh injury in IPL 2023. Rahul is likely to feature in the Ireland series but Agarkar, Dravid and Rohit will have to call up keeper-batsmen and Bumrah for the Asia Cup in September. The multinational tournament is all set to give a clearer idea of India’s squad for the World Cup.
