ICICI Bank opens first branch in Tirap district at Khonsa

Private sector lender ICICI Bank has opened its first branch in Khonsa, the headquarters of Tirap district in Arunachal Pradesh, marking the bank’s entry into the southeastern district of the state. The new branch expands the bank’s presence in Arunachal Pradesh, where it now operates 21 branches along with 22 ATMs and Cash Recycling Machines (CRMs).

The branch was inaugurated by Wanglin Lowangdong, MLA of Borduria Bogapani constituency, along with Tirap Deputy Commissioner Techu Aran. The facility has been equipped with a Cash Recycling Machine and will provide a range of banking services including savings and current accounts, fixed and recurring deposits, and loans such as home loans, auto loans, education loans, business loans, Kisan Credit Card and farm equipment loans.

The branch will operate from 9:30 am to 3 pm on weekdays and on the first, third and fifth Saturdays of every month. It will also offer Tab Banking services, allowing customers to access nearly 100 banking services at their doorstep through bank representatives using tablet devices.

The opening of the branch is expected to strengthen banking access in the Tirap market, where residents and small businesses have long depended on limited financial infrastructure. Local traders and entrepreneurs are likely to benefit from easier access to loans, digital banking and deposit services, which could support commercial activity and financial inclusion in the district.
