Illegal transportation of beef in Assam; arrested

On Friday, three men in Dibrugarh, Assam got arrested for illegally transporting bags of beef. Under Cattle Preservation (Amendment) Act, 2021 three of them were charged and arrested along with their chopping knives. The accused were identified as as Imran Ali, Miraz Khan and Younus Khan.

According to the report, the accused were coming from Chaulkhowa to Loharpatti, Dibrugarh to supply beef. Police was informed earlier about the vehicle; their team detained the vehicle while they were about to deliver beef to Imran Hussain Alias.

Further, bags of beef were seized and connected to the cattle delivering all were arrested. Also Imran Hussain managed to provide the slip of delivery to the police.

The Assam Cattle Preservation (Amendment) Act, 2021 inter alia prohibits the slaughter of cows and also restricts intra-state and inter-state movement of cattle.

The three people were booked under section 353/34 of the IPC r/w Section 13 of Assam Cattle Preservation (Amendment) Act, 2021.
