In anticipation of the upcoming visit by President Droupadi Murmu to Shillong and the revered Mawphlang Sacred Grove on January 16, 2024, recently traffic advisory has been issued by local authorities to ensure the smooth movement of the VVIP and to minimise inconveniences to the public. Considering the significance of the visit, the movement of Droupadi Murmu is expected to lead to certain disruptions in vehicular traffic. Therefore, the general public is earnestly urged to refrain from unnecessary travel towards Mawngap and in the vicinity of Shillong city on the specified date to control the situation.
To facilitate the safe passage of the VVIP convoy, there will be a temporary staggered arrangement of vehicles at various locations in the city and along the designated route. As a precautionary measure, vehicular traffic will be halted for duration of 30 minutes leading up to the scheduled arrival of Droupadi Murmu on January 16, 2024, at all major traffic junctions. However, to ensure the continuous functioning of emergency services, vehicles associated with such services will be permitted to ply during the restricted period and will be facilitated for seamless movement.
