Ahead of the upcoming Kali Puja and Chhath Puja, recently the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) conducted a meeting at Ramkinkar Hall in Dinabandhu Mancha, Siliguri. The meeting, held on Friday, was attended by various city clubs, along with Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb, Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar, Chairman Pratul Chakraborty, DCP Traffic Biswa Chand Thakur, Fire Brigade representatives, and other officials. Actually during the session, the clubs were informed of the guidelines and rules for organizing the upcoming festivals.
Mayor Gautam Deb mentioned that all necessary guidelines were conveyed to the clubs. He highlighted that large idols are being crafted in the city this year, which requires careful planning for immersion. He also noted that, due to potential challenges for fire personnel during emergencies, fire engines would not be provided to puja committees for idol immersion. This is actually good news as SMC is doing right preparation for Kali Puja and Chhath Puja so that it goes properly.
