Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, inaugurated the Skill India Centre (SIC) in Angul, aiming to equip around 1000 children annually with employability and new-age skills. While speaking at the event, Shri Pradhan said that the centre aims to broaden the scope of skill development and educational infrastructure in the region, particularly benefiting underprivileged sections of society.
The centre has the potential to become a futuristic hub, equipping the youth with futuristic skills in high-demand trades and catalyzing entrepreneurship and skill development on a large scale. It will enable the youth to leverage modern technologies, provide hands-on experiences on new-age technologies, and facilitate career advancement aligned with the demands of the future of work and skill development.
The centre aligns with the goals outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which aims to create a flexible and dynamic education system that prepares students for real-world challenges. The centre will play a pivotal role in nurturing the capabilities of Odisha’s youth population, fostering innovation, and building a New India that resonates with their aspirations and goals. Skill India Centres will expedite skilled talent hiring, foster an industry-ready workforce, and catalyze economic growth.
