Increase in tiger population in Assam tiger reserves

Assam has been witnessing surge of tigers in the state, Assam since last year.  Recently, a report was released in government data on International Tiger Day about the numbers of tigers the state is serving.

As per the report, Assam currently has 227 tigers.

According to earlier reports, in the year 2006 Assam had 70 tigers, the figure rose to 143 in 2010. In 2014, the population of the animal further increased to 167. It was 190 in 2018 and 227 in 2022 respectively.

Assam has four tiger reserves; they are Manas, Kaziranga, Orang and Nameri and in all these reserves tiger population has increased.
