India appoints SBI MD Swaminathan Janakiraman as central-bank deputy

Swaminathan Janakiraman appointed as the Deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of India by the Union govt. for the tenure of 3 years from the date of joining , as per the reports. At present he is working as the Managing Director of SBI and will succeed Mahesh Kumar Jain whose tenure ends on 22nd of June 2023.

The MD will be handling or in-charge of all the departments which are at present under the purview of Mahesh Kumar. For example Department of Education, Consumer, Protection, Financial Inclusion and Department of Supervision.
