India sees a single-day rise of 1,542 coronavirus infections

India reported a one-day increase of 1,542 coronavirus infections, the lowest in 182 days, according to Union health ministry data updated on Tuesday. The number of cases rose to 4,46,32,430, while active cases fell to 26,449. Said active Covid-19 caseload declined by 385 cases in 24 hours.

The death toll rose to 5,28,913 with 8 new fatalities, including five deaths reported by Kerala. Three new deaths were reported from Gujarat, Odisha and West Bengal, data updated at 8 am said.

Active cases comprise 0.06 percent of total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has risen to 98.76 percent, the health ministry said. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.68 percent while the weekly positivity rate was 1.02 percent, according to the health ministry.
