Cyclone Jawad is likely to reach north coastal Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coast by the morning of December 4, informed the Meteorological Department (IMD), Amaravati Director Stella Samuel on Friday. The storm was located nearly 400 kms away from Visakhapatnam as of Friday noon. After hitting the Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coast, it is likely to recurve north-northeastwards and move along the Odisha coast, reaching near Puri on December 5. Strong earthquake of 6.1 magnitude hits India-Myanmar border; tremors felt in Kolkata, Guwahati

A shallow and strong earthquake of magnitude 6.1 was felt in India-Myanmar border.  The quake was reported at 5.15 am with its epicentre at a depth of 73 km southeast of Thenzawl, Mizoram, according to the National Centre of Seismology (NCS). The tremors were felt as far away as in West Bengal, Tripura, and Assam in eastern India.   The depth of the quake was 12 km. So far, no reports of any damage have surfaced.
