Pyre, a Tamil novel by Indian author Perumal Murugan, has been longlisted for the 2023 International Booker Prize.
Thirteen books from Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America made it to the longlist of the International Booker Prize 2023, which was revealed by the Booker Prize Foundation here on Tuesday. One of those books is the Tamil novel “Pyre” by Indian author Perumal Murugan.
Murugan, 56, is the first Tamil author to make it to the longlist of 13 works with his 2016 book “Pyre,” which was translated from Tamil by Aniruddhan Vasudevan.In the narrative “Pyre,” an inter caste couple elopes, starting a tale of frightening foreboding.
