India’s first underwater metro service to be inaugurated on March 6

PM Modi will inaugurate India’s first underwater Metro facility during his visit to West Bengal’s Kolkata on March 6, marking a major step forward for transportation in the city.

The under-water tunnel is part of the Kolkata Metro extension project, that will connect Salt Lake to Howrah via Kolkata with a stretch below the Hooghly river.

This remarkable engineering feat features a 16.6 km tunnel under the Hooghly River. The metro aims to decrease congestion, reduce pollution, and establish a new mode of transportation.
