Indo-Bangladesh border operations lead to arrests of Nigerian and Bangladeshi nationals

In a series of successful operations along the Indo-Bangladesh border, the Border Security Force (BSF) has apprehended a Nigerian national, three Bangladeshi nationals, and an Indian tout. These arrests were made in three separate operations carried out in Tripura’s Sepahijala and North Tripura districts.

The first operation, based on specific intelligence, led to the capture of 34-year-old Maxwel Nweke, a Nigerian national, who was found moving suspiciously near the Indo-Bangladesh border road. Nweke was attempting to infiltrate into Bangladesh when BSF personnel detained him. Following this, BSF also apprehended Suraj Prasad, an Indian tout from West Tripura, who was trying to flee the scene on a motorcycle. Prasad is a known figure and has been under surveillance for his involvement in illegal border activities.

In another operation, BSF troops captured a 15-year-old Bangladeshi girl in North Tripura’s Mangroli area. The girl, identified as a resident of Chandpur village, was attempting to cross the border into India. Additionally, two more Bangladeshi nationals, a male and a female, were arrested in West Tripura in a joint operation with the Agartala police. Both individuals are from Bagerhat district in Bangladesh.
