Indore Hosted the 4th meeting of the Employment Working

The Labor and Employment Ministers’ Meeting (LEMM) was held in Indore on July 21, 2023, under India’s G20 Presidency. The meeting, chaired by Union Labor and Employment Minister Bhupendra Yadav, attracted 165 delegates, including 24 ministers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the meeting via video, highlighting the impact of technology on employment during the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

He praised India’s experience in creating numerous technology-related jobs and wished the meeting a fruitful and successful outcome. In his video message, PM Modi said, “Fortunately, this meeting is being held in a country like India, which has had the experience of creating a large number of technology-related jobs during such technology-driven transformations in the past.”

The 4th Employment Working Group meeting took place in Indore on July 19-20, prior to the Ministers’ Meeting. Aarti Ahuja, Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Employment and Chairperson of the G20 EWG, welcomed delegates and summarized previous discussions. India shared e-Labour and the National Career Service portal, the world’s largest database of unorganized workers. The delegates also visited the historic Mandu Fort.
