The Indian Performing Right Society (IPRS) is set to attend the Asia Music Summit in Kohima from February 1st to 3rd. This initiative aims to enlighten and empower musicians from the region, shedding light on crucial aspects of the music business covering copyright, royalties, and the role of music copyright societies in safeguarding creators’ rights.
Music copyright is crucial in today’s thriving music industry, protecting creators’ intellectual property and ensuring fair compensation. It covers composers, songwriters, and independent artists, providing a legal shield. Music copyright societies, like IPRS, manage and license music to ensure fair compensation. By joining a copyright society, creators gain a powerful ally in navigating the complexities of the music industry, ensuring their music is protected and monetized.
IPRS is hosting a workshop at the Asia Music Summit to educate participants on music copyright, IPRS’ role, creator rights management, and royalties. The workshop will provide insights and support for their musical journey. Mr. Rakesh Nigam, CEO of The Indian Performing Right Society Limited stated, “Through strategic collaborations and extensive outreach, our goal is to reach every artist, transcending geographical boundaries, and making sure they are well-versed about the opportunities and protections that await them in the rapidly evolving music industry.”
