Israel to take care of family of the woman from Kerala who died in an airstrike

Israel’s Deputy Envoy to India Rony Yedidia Clein on Thursday said that Israeli authorities will take care of the family of Soumya Santhosh,

“The family will be taken care of by the Israeli authorities in compensation for what happened, although nothing can ever compensate for the loss of a mother and wife.” Clein said.

According to Santhosh’s family members, the rocket fell on the residence of 31-year-old Soumya in the city of Ashkelon while she was talking to her husband Santhosh, who is in Kerala, over video call in the evening.

In an interview with ANI, Clein said that Santhosh’s mortal remains would be brought on a flight to Delhi on Friday or Saturday and then transported to her village, if all goes as planned.

Hostilities between Israel and Hamas, a Palestinian organisation, have escalated and led to violence across Israel over the past few days. At least 90 people – 83 Palestinians and 7 Israelis – have died in the most intensive aerial exchange of airstrikes and rockets that the region has seen in years.
