Itanagar ignites K-Pop spirit as regional round delivers thrilling performances

The Dorjee Khandu State Convention Hall buzzed with excitement as K-Pop enthusiasts gathered for the Itanagar regional round of the All India K-Pop Contest 2024. The event, part of a nationwide search for India’s top K-Pop talent, showcased stellar performances across dance and vocal categories.

Out of 415 online registrations, 77 participants were selected for this regional showdown. In the dance category, ‘The Trend’ clinched the top spot with a dynamic performance of Stray Kids’ ‘God’s Menu,’ while Dorothi Hazarika captured the top prize in the vocal category with her rendition of Ailee’s ‘I Will Go To You Like The First Snow.’ Both winners are set to advance to the semi-finals in New Delhi on October 19.

The competition was fierce, with ‘The Muse’ securing first runners-up in dance with Twice’s ‘One Spark,’ and ‘Lunette’ earning second runners-up with Le Sserafim’s ‘Fearless.’ In the vocal category, Dayum Apu and Miko finished as first and second runners-up, respectively.Hwang Il Yong, Director of the Korean Cultural Centre India, praised Itanagar’s enthusiasm and expressed gratitude to all participants. The contest will continue its regional rounds in Chennai, Hyderabad, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, and Lucknow before the Grand Finale at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi on November 23, 2024. The contest winners will be rewarded with a trip to Korea, highlighting the growing influence of K-Pop in India.
