Jalukbari Lekhika Samaroh Samiti Holds Third Meeting of Its 31st Year

The third meeting of the thirty-first year of the Jalukbari Lekhika Samaroh Samiti was held on the afternoon of August 23 at the Adarsha English School of Gauhati University, presided over by advisor Rita Sharma. The meeting, which began with a chorus by the members of the committee with an opening song, was followed by Secretary Geetika Das explaining the objectives and reading the report of the previous meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, a one-minute silent prayer was observed expressing deep condolence over the deaths of popular Assamese film actress Purabi Sharma and Ashok Goswami.

In the self-composed writing recitation session of the meeting, self-composed poems were recited by Anjana Rani Bhattacharya and Anju Saikia Dutta. Essays were read by Suchitra Deka, Runumi Nath, Dipali Medhi and Dr. Aparna Goswami. A short story was read by Dipti Rekha Pathak Majumdar. Modern songs and folk songs were performed by Minati Goswami, Monika Patowary, and Nirmali Goswami respectively.

Advisor Annapurna Devi delivered a speech. In her presidential address, Rita Sharma gave a detailed review of the self-composed writings recited in the meeting. The meeting concluded with the state anthem (Assam Sangeet), and the vote of thanks was offered by Anjana Rani Bhattacharya.
