Jalukbari Police Arrest Two For Drugging Women And Stealing Gold In Sundarbari

Jalukbari Police have arrested two fraudsters who duped and looted gold ornaments from the residence of a woman named Jesmine Khatun in Sundarbari, under Jalukbari Police Station limits in Guwahati.

As per the FIR lodged by the victim Jesmine Khatun at Jalukbari Police Station, two unknown persons came to their house and approached her mother Begum Baby and another woman Baria Begum on the pretext of curing their leg pain. They made the two women consume some unknown substance and rendered them unconscious.

Taking advantage of the situation, the duo looted the gold ornaments worn by the two women and fled from the spot.

Later, based on the investigation, Jalukbari Police identified the two suspects as residents of Agiathuri under Hajo Police Station in Kamrup district, using the PTL of the mobile number used by the suspected miscreants.

Accordingly, early this morning, a team from Jalukbari Police Station reached Agiathuri and with the assistance of Hajo Police arrested one accused, Haran Ali, from his residence. During interrogation, Haran Ali confessed to his involvement in the theft and revealed that he had sold the stolen gold ornaments.

Based on his confession, police recovered one pair of gold earrings, one pair of gold ear-tops, and three pieces of gold used in bangles. He also admitted to selling these ornaments at Mama-Bhagin Jewellery in Bullut, Hajo, to Babul Ahmed, son of Samej Uddin of Satra Konra under Mundia Police Station in Barpeta district, for Rs 50,000.

Along with this, police also recovered Rs 30,000 in cash linked to the money obtained from selling the stolen items from the possession of accused Haran Ali.

Police have also arrested Babul Ahmed who purchased the stolen gold.

Both accused are currently being interrogated at Jalukbari Police Station for further information.
