Shri Jayant Chaudhary, the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), conducted a comprehensive review of the operations of the Directorate General of Training (DGT) and participated in an immersive session to gain a deep understanding of the DGT, its schemes, and its institutions. These include Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs), the National Instructional Media Institute (NIMI), and the Central Staff Training and Research Institute (CSTARI). This session marked a significant step towards the upgradation and reinvigoration of the entire skill development ecosystem in India.
Shri Jayant Chaudhary urged the importance of advanced skill training in the DGT ecosystem, recommending the introduction of specialized programs and certifications, as well as continuous professional development for trainers to stay updated with industry trends.
Shri Chaudhary praised the DGT’s efforts in revitalizing the skilling ecosystem, adding over 5000 institutions in the last decade. He emphasized the need for a renewed focus on ITIs and NSTIs, advocating for blended learning and enhancing industry collaboration through Flexi MoU partnerships and the Dual System of Training. He emphasized the need for modernization, updating curricula, reviewing course durations, and adapting to market demands, especially in emerging sectors. He also discussed initiatives to improve training quality and student employability.
