A western disturbance is set to influence weather conditions across several provinces, bringing cloud cover, light rain, and possible snowfall in hilly and Himalayan regions, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division.
In its 24-hour forecast issued at 8:00 am, the department said the hilly and Himalayan areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces will remain generally cloudy throughout the day. Similar conditions are expected in the Himalayan regions of other provinces as well. Meanwhile, most parts of the Terai are likely to experience mainly fair weather, although morning mist may occur in some areas.
Light rain or snowfall is forecast at a few locations in the Himalayan belt and at isolated spots in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. Scattered light precipitation is also possible in the hilly and mountainous regions of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Tonight, haze may develop in parts of the Terai. The Himalayan region is expected to remain generally cloudy, while the hilly region will see partly cloudy skies. Light rain or snowfall may continue at one or two locations in higher elevations, particularly in Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
In the Kathmandu Valley, the weather is expected to stay partly cloudy with a slight chance of light rain during the day. The maximum temperature is likely to range between 20°C and 22°C, with around a 10 percent probability of rainfall.
At night, partly cloudy conditions will persist, with minimum temperatures expected to hover between 9°C and 11°C.
Authorities have advised residents in hilly and Himalayan districts to remain cautious, especially in areas prone to slippery roads and reduced visibility due to light snowfall and cloud cover.
