Kharchi Puja, one of Tripura’s most respected traditional events, ended magnificently and solemnly despite heavy rain. The Tripuran people have a particular place in their hearts for Kharchi Puja, which is comparable in cultural significance to Durga Puja and the Tripureshwari Festival of Matabari. Thousands of devotees attended this year’s fair, which started on July 3 and ended on July 9. The public was nevertheless quite excited, and the number of people visiting the temple grounds did not decline in spite of the intense downpour. This year’s closing ceremony was graced by notable figures, including the mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee.
