Kolkata college ‘forces’ assistant professor to quit over complaint of student looking at her bikini pics

A former assistant professor at St Xavier’s University in Kolkata has alleged that she used to be forced to quit after a father or mother complained that he had observed his son looking at images of her in a bikini on Instagram, The Wire reported.

The former assistant professor, referred to as Nandini Guha (name changed) in the report, alleged that the university pulled her up after receiving a written criticism from a first yr male undergraduate student’s father remaining year. In the letter, the mum or dad says that he had caught his son looking at images of the college professor that have been “objectionable”, “vulgar” and “bordered on nudity”.

A social media user shared the purported criticism letter written by the parent, identified as BK Mukherjee.

“Recently, I was surprised that my son was looking at some pix of the professor where he was intentionally exposing himself to the public in a sexually specific way. It is absolutely shameful for me as a parent to upload a picture of a teacher in her underwear on social media, as I have tried to protect my son from such vulgarity and objectification of a girl’s body, it is obscene, lewd and inappropriate. 18 A 12-month-old scholar saw his professor flaunting her body on a public platform in scantily clad clothes,” it read.

In a meeting with St Xavier’s Vice-Chancellor and other university authorities on October 7, 2021, Guha used to be shown the guardian’s complaint letter and a piece of paper with thumbnails of some snapshots from her private Instagram account, she said.

However, she claimed she was once now not informed how these pictures had been acquired or whether those were the photographs that the male pupil was once located looking at or which have been discovered objectionable.

Guha alleged that he was forced to quit because she had “tarnished the reputation of the university”. However, St Xavier’s denied his allegations and claimed that the assistant professor resigned voluntarily.

In a police criticism Guha lodged on October 24, 2021, she mentioned that her personal Instagram account may additionally have been hacked and her pics then leaked and circulated.
