Germany has inaugurated the largest solar farm in Europe, located in the state of Brandenburg. Covering over 4,000 acres, the facility will generate enough electricity to power approximately 1.2 million homes.
The solar farm aligns with Germany’s commitment to phasing out coal and transitioning to renewable energy sources. It is expected to reduce carbon emissions by over 2 million tons annually.
German Chancellor Friedrich Müller praised the project as a significant step towards energy independence and combating climate change. The government has set an ambitious goal of achieving 80% renewable energy by 2030.
