‘Lathi-charge on BPSC aspirants unacceptable’: BJP attacks Nitish Kumar govt for ‘anti-students’ stance

On Wednesday (August 31) condemning the lathi-charge on Bihar Public Service Commission candidates, Minister of State for Home affair Nithyananda Rai demanded action against irresponsible officials. Speaking to ANI, Nithyananda Rai accused the newly formed alliance authorities of exerting pressure on BPSC candidates.”The JDU-RJD authorities had promised to provide 20 lakh jobs to the youth of Bihar but instead of keeping their word, Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav are using force on BPSC students who are only concerned about their right to free and fair exams,” the minister said.

Notably, there have been clashes between BPSC candidates and police personnel in Patna these days. The candidates were protesting against the examination schedule. Rai also said that the use of brutal force on BPSC examinees shows that this government is anti-student.

“To do this, the government is showing its anti-student tactics but I like to warn the national government that we will not be silent now that we stand with the demands of the students.”

He demanded an apology from the country’s government for the lathi used earlier in Patna. “The Nitish Kumar government should immediately apologize for ussing lathi on BPSC candidates and take action against irresponsible officials,” the minister demanded.

College students appearing for the BPSC exam were reportedly protesting and lathi-charged against the option in the exam pattern. The BPSC in today’s notification said that due to the large number of candidates in the 67th Combined (Primary) competitive re-examination, the district now does not have full accommodation to conduct the examination in one phase. Hence in the light of above, it has been decided to conduct preliminary re-examination, multiple stages and final results in Equipercentile Equating technique through the Commission.

Now, the state commission has announced the exam dates which will be held on 20 and 22 September. Students are opposing the additional percentile system and have asked the authorities about the exam dates.

Revealing the deep situation with the growing crime picture in the state, Rai said that ‘Gunda Raj’ has emerged on a massive scale.” Murders are now frequent in Bihar and the criminals have become fearless. With the return of Nitish Kumar to the alliance, the state is again under the hood,” added Rai.
