Lindberg triumph highlights Turkish Airlines Open’s global brand push

Sweden’s Mikael Lindberg clinched the 2026 Turkish Airlines Open title with a total score of 278 (-10) at the National Golf Club in Belek, Antalya, underlining the tournament’s growing global stature. Italy’s Guido Migliozzi and Daniel Rodrigues finished as runners-up. The trophy was presented by Türkiye’s Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Osman Aşkın Bak and Turkish Airlines Chief Commercial Officer Harun Baştürk. The event drew key stakeholders including Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin, Turkish Golf Federation President Yıldırım Demirören, Regnum Hotels owner Fikret Öztürk and DP World Tour’s Mark Casey, reflecting strong institutional backing.

Officials emphasised the tournament’s commercial and strategic value. Harun Baştürk said the event strengthens Antalya’s positioning as a global golf hub while aligning with Turkish Airlines’ cross-border brand strategy. Yıldırım Demirören highlighted expanded participation of Turkish athletes, while Mark Casey termed the ninth edition a successful close to the Asian Swing on the Race to Dubai. Since 2013, Turkish Airlines has scaled its golf footprint through the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup, now spanning 122 destinations across 83 countries, reinforcing its sports marketing ecosystem.

In Kolkata, the tournament’s global broadcast and premium positioning are expected to boost brand recall among affluent travellers and corporate audiences. Market watchers note rising interest in sports tourism and international leisure travel, with events like the Turkish Airlines Open likely to influence outbound travel preferences and strengthen airline-led brand engagement in eastern India.
