Longest river cruise service will begin early next year in Assam

The service for the people of Assam, to use the inland waterways for their trade, tourism and cargo transport etc. will start in Assam soon, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said on Monday.

4,000 km. Through the Indo-Bangladesh Protocol Route (IBRP), the route will connect the Ganga and Brahmaputra rivers with the longest river cruise service between Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and Bagibil in Assam starting early next year.

He laid the foundation stone for the construction of floating jetties at Bagibil and Guijan. Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the Bogibeel Riverfront Passenger Jetty.
