Lower Assam population elevation, Chief Minister expresses concern

Lower Assam’s Goalpara district has experienced a population explosion since 2001, the Chief Minister expressed concern.

Sarma said, “Increase in population in the district from 2001 till date is staggering. There has been a 30 percent decadal growth of population in Goalpara district since the year 2001. There are bound to be conflicts (land allocation). Today, an average family in the district has about eight to nine members. So, how will the government allot land.”

Besides he also spoke about the state of Assam and how far it has progressed in 18 months with success and achievements, added while talking to the media. He also said about Sainik School Goalpara, students should work so hard so that they also get admission to National Defense Academy and Indian Military Academy. Sainik School Goalpara should not be isolated from the wave of growth and progress a new and resurgent Assam is offering, he added.
