Madhya Pradesh WCD team prevents a girl from marriage

A women and child development group in Madhya Pradesh has managed to prevent a 16-year-old girl from getting married in the Indore district.

The Prevention of Child Marriage Act, 2006 prohibits the marriage of girls before the age of 18 and men below the age of 21.

Officer-in-charge Mahendra Pathak said, the WCD team reached Hatod town and asked the girl’s parents to sign a bond that they will not marry her till she turns 18, said .
