In a strategic collaboration aimed at fostering gender empowerment and agricultural advancement, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. has partnered with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) to launch two pilots as part of the renowned Drone Didi Yojana. This pioneering initiative, announced earlier this year, seeks to train 15,000 women as proficient drone operators for diverse agricultural activities like fertiliser application, crop monitoring, and seed sowing, thereby catalysing rural economic growth.
Under this partnership, MSDE and Mahindra & Mahindra will conduct exclusive training sessions for 500 women at National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) located in Hyderabad and Noida. The meticulously crafted 15-day curriculum, endorsed by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, will be administered by expert Remote Pilot Training Organisation (RPTO) instructors, leveraging Mahindra’s extensive expertise in agriculture for comprehensive training.
Secretary of MSDE, Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing its potential to empower rural women and enhance agricultural productivity. Dr. Anish Shah, Group CEO & MD of Mahindra Group, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the initiative’s alignment with Mahindra’s ethos of empowerment.
