Mahindra XEV 9S set to revolutionize India’s electric SUV market, prices start at Rs 19.95 lakh

Mahindra & Mahindra has officially launched the XEV 9S, India’s largest electric 7-seater SUV, marking a significant step in the country’s electric mobility segment. Built on the INGLO platform and powered by the MAIA system, the XEV 9S offers a 70 kWh battery producing 180 kW power and 380 Nm torque. Prices start at ₹19.95 lakh, with the fully loaded 79 kWh variant priced at ₹29.45 lakh. Bookings open on January 14, 2026, and customer deliveries begin January 23, 2026.

R Velusamy, President – Automotive Business, Mahindra, highlighted the SUV’s spacious interiors, quiet ride, and high-tech features, stating, “The XEV 9S creates more space than any other in its segment while offering a smooth, noise-free experience. MAIA ensures advanced technological integration, making it a premium yet accessible option for Indian families.”

In Howrah, the launch has generated noticeable buzz among consumers and dealerships. Local dealers report early inquiries for test drives and bookings, with city buyers increasingly seeking EVs that combine space, comfort, and performance. Analysts note that Howrah’s growing urban middle class is likely to favor the XEV 9S for family use and city commuting, boosting Mahindra’s visibility in eastern India.

The XEV 9S boasts 4076 L cabin space, ventilated second-row seats, L2+ ADAS, 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio, wireless connectivity, and premium features such as a panoramic skyroof, advanced safety systems, and intelligent adaptive suspension, positioning it as a flagship electric SUV in India’s growing EV market.
