Makhan Bhog – one of Guwahati’s leading food chains opened the doors of its second branch in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam recently. The beautifully decorated, 125 seater restaurant was inaugurated by the Honorable Consulate General of India to Vietnam – Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi in the presence of a big Indian diaspora. During the inaugural ceremony Mr. Dhruv Arya – Director at Makhan Bhog Vietnam, Partner in Vietnam Mr. Vinit Agarwal along with other dignitaries were present.

 The new restaurant – located in District 1, which is the most lively area of Ho Chi Minh City features hand paintings of Indian and Vietnamese cultures. Makhan Bhog, which already has a fully operational restaurant in Ho Chi Minh since 2019 plans to expand furthermore in Vietnam and other South East Asian countries. On this occasion, Mr. Dhruv Arya – Director at Makhan Bhog Vietnam said “we are very proud to be the only pure vegetarian and vegan Indian restaurant in the whole of Vietnam. The response that we have received here is phenomenal and we hope to expand to other cities of Vietnam as well. Our team has already started scouting for locations in Hanoi, Da Nang and Phu Quoc cities. We also plan to operate small quick service kiosks at various Vietnamese airports. This will promote Indian food amongst other tourists as well.”

It is worthy to note that Vietnam is slowly becoming a major tourist attraction for Indians because of its easy accessibility from all parts of India and reasonable pricing of tour packages to Vietnam. The air connectivity between India and Vietnam has also been given a major boost in the recent years, with IndiGo and Vietjet starting direct flights to various cities in Vietnam from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Bangalore. A non stop flight between Guwahati and Ho Chi Minh is also expected to start in the coming time. At a time when tourism industry is blooming, opportunities for restaurants like Makhan Bhog are immense.
